Rise of the Gryphon Belador Sherrilyn Kenyon Dianna Love 9781451671995 Books

I found this series a couple weeks ago and read Bks 1 - 3 back to back. Maybe that is why I am now disappointed. These are 400 page books. I am the type of reader that gets frustrated with 1200 pages of foreplay with no climax. The earth shattering problem in book 1 is the uncompleted problem in Bk 4. (I stopped reading about page 20) Three books with the same exact tension and no resolution is exhausting. Wonderful characters have been added with each book. But, most get one or two sentences in each book. There are too many to allow any to evolve. Evalle is starving as she never eats, she also sleeps about 2 hours every 3 days. For 1200 pages. If Feenix was a child or dog he would be taken away from her due to neglect. He gets tossed a few lug nuts, then she disappears and doesn't come back sometimes for days. She goes from major injuries to on the brink of death a couple times each day. I really liked the books (that's why I read 3 back to back) until the same trolls in Bk 1 were still running amok in Bk 4. I have stopped and picked up an Anne Perry Monk mystery. This is also a series. But, Monk is set a mystery, he figures it out and I know I will get another, surprising Monk mystery in the next book. It is more fun for me to read a series with characters I like who are smart enough to take on new problems each book and figure it out by the end of the book. Many paranormal authors are able to do the same thing.

Rise of the Gryphon Belador Sherrilyn Kenyon Dianna Love 9781451671995 Books Reviews

The protagonist is the female warrior stranger-in-a-strange-land who is pulled in several directions at once, yet manages to find moral purpose in fighting others' battles to protect them. Even the Goddess she serves presents her with impossible tasks to appease her own apparent vanity. And although the lady warrior sees the short comings of her compatriots clearly enough, she continuously plunges into battle without hesitation, always wondering about her own identity and origin, until in this book she blossoms into a magnificent Gryphon, with greatly enhanced powers - and yet still plunges on to save the universe. Great characters, great action sequences you really ought to read the first three books in this series to appreciate the mythology of this story. I really enjoyed it.
Spent the weekend reading this series. Very interesting characters with a twist on the creatures/humans/?? There was so much information for the different groups it took a little concentration to keep everything straight. This book brought some of the main plot and relationships to a conclusion and very successfully set up others for the sequels. I have not read Ms Kenyon and Ms. Love before - (evidently I've been living in some sort of vacuum). They seem very prolific which is nice. I look forward to starting a different series and can't wait for the next book in the Belador group. I would recommend this book to my reading friends.
I've really loved the series with Eval and glad that she and Storm finally get together. However, it's frustrating that it ends on such a traumatic note. I rated the story a 5 because it held my attention the whole time, I read every word, and the quality of writing is excellent. The twist and turns were great and it was full of surprises. The ending left me unfulfilled and frustrated. Why can't Eval have something that ends happily? This is the 4th book in the series and I don't see an end in sight. How many more books will it take to have that happy ever after feeling? I usually don't make it this many books into a series that continues on with the same person. I prefer the series that go from one person to the next with each book ending happily. Even though the series is good, I'm done.
If you have not read the previous Belador novels by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love, I seriously recommend that you do so. This is not a stand alone book and honestly you need to be up to date. I have (yep have to.. ) read the previous books every time a new book is released.. so I am up to date. Going into this book thinking to read it first. Not a good idea. Especially this one.

Rise of the Gryphon is the fourth book in the Belador Series and it is what I would almost call a transition book. Evalle has finally decided that Storm is worth her trust.. she has committed to him but his past is quickly catching up on him and he is worried how it will effect her. Honestly Storm is just about the yummiest thing out there.. Totally swoonworthy..

Evalle has troubles of her own.. Macha, her alleged goddess (not my favorite character) has given her 5 days to convince 5, count em 5 alterants to submit to Macha as part of her pantheon.. Sure, no problem, who cares if VIPER has been hunting them and confining them as uncontrollable beasts for centuries? Why is it every time a god or goddess asks for help and makes a promise there is something twisted about it? Seriously, who cares that Evalle has worked with the Beladors faithfully for years, who cares if she is committed to serving her people? She is still treated like crap, even by her goddess..

The only way Evalle even stands a chance at finding 5 alterants is to attend the ABC (a beast fight).. except somehow slimeball Sen has found out about it and forbidden, yep forbidden anyone from Viper or any Beladors to attend it. It's totally off limits. So if Evalle does what Macha wants she can still catch it from Sen..

As usual there is a lot going on here.. Evalle and Storm are heating things up.. Tzader's is struggling with Brina's decision to marry and yes, once again Macha is being a total pain.. And Quinn, oh my Quinn.. yeah I am not going into detail but let's just say.. well tears they did fall..

This book took me time to get into it.. almost half way.. so much information was being dispersed. But once I was in, I was totally sucked in.. I fell hard for this book.

A most definite must read and excellent addition to the Belador Series.
