In January 2013, I created the blog “Recovering Shopaholic ” in an effort to downsize my jam-packed closet and overcome a decades-long compulsive shopping problem. As I progressed with my recovery, I shared my insights and processes so that readers could apply them to their own lives and learn to shop more wisely and better manage their wardrobes.
This book contains the best of my wardrobe management solutions from “Recovering Shopaholic,” categorized into logical sections related to various closet conundrums. These solutions have all been revised and enhanced from the original versions that appeared on the blog, and new material has also been created specifically for the book. You can read “End Closet Chaos” from cover to cover or use it as a reference to tackle your individual wardrobe challenges.
“End Closet Chaos” begins by addressing wardrobe size, which is a subject that is on a lot of people’s minds. After exploring frequency of wear and closet “set point,” I delve into some general wardrobe management tips, closet organization, wardrobe tracking, and how to pare down your wardrobe. I also include suggestions for taking care of your clothes, tailoring, packing for travel, and defining and enhancing your personal style.
The book closes with a bonus section of tips for smarter shopping from my first book, “UnShopping Recovery Solutions from an Ex-Shopaholic .” I’ve included this last section because smarter shopping will assist you in keeping your closet chaos at bay (you’ll find more than forty additional smart shopping strategies in my first book).
You do not need to be a shopaholic to benefit from this book. The tips and suggestions I provide are intended to be helpful for anyone who struggles with “closet chaos” of any kind.

I found this book through her blog. The book is an encapsulation of her most popular posts and really easy to read. Part psychology, part closet organization. I downsized my closet tremendously after reading this. My daily outfits are much more consistent and overall better. And I am much more aware of the psychology behind why i bought so much bad crap in the first place.Product details

End Closet Chaos Wardrobe Solutions from an ExShopaholic edition by Debbie Roes Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
The book was fun and an easy read. Great tips. I have lost a lot of weight recently and needed to part with clothes. I found motivation here and recommend it.
The book was good in figuring out why a person has to always buy more clothes with a closet full. It also helps explain why quality is better than quantity. She shows basics and helps you pare down what you have. You will end up with a smaller amount of clothes but hopefully love everything, and have what you need for just about any occasion.
Great tips from this book to start my new year off right. Wearing my clothes, rating them, asking myself would I reach for something else, comparing like items and slowly decreasing my inventory. Yes, I can do this.
This book has a great deal of common sense within it (which can lead to a feeling of "I knew that already"), however it is presented really well and brings many things we have all read before into one very snappy and useful book. I recommend it.
Debbie Roes' blog and books have really helped me with my shopping issues. She has a lot of practical advice on how to organize your wardrobe, keep track of how many items you own and how often they are worn. These are methods I would never have thought to use and are worth the effort. It's eye opening to really examine how often you wear your clothes and how much you own. Debbie has a very analytic approach to wardrobe management and shopping compulsion therapy. She is very intelligent, practical and helpful.
This is a book to keep around and read again periodically if you tend to continually shop. The topic is clothes but it could be adapted to any item. It contains helpful tips that are simple in concept but are powerful if truly embraced. Purging an overstuffed closet is great, but it's equally about not creating room just to keep the shopping cycle going --like a yoyo diet. I recommend this book to keep on your phone so you can refer to it as needed if you often emtionally shop.
Very practical advice on how to re-think shopping and paring down your overflowing closet. I am in therapy for this problem and this is a great resource that only a former over shopper can give. Highly recommend. Wish it was in paperback too.
